Things to Know Before Renting a Car in Orlando, FL

If you just landed in Orlando, Florida and is planning to rent a vehicle to visit attractions or on the business trip then this article is for you. I will give quick but useful tips and information all about renting a vehicle. This includes the driver’s requirements, rates, destination and geographic restriction.

Flying to Orlando would mostly mean that you are arriving in the Orlando International Airport or MCO. You could book from different car rentals available online or via your travel agency but if you forgot to book one you could always book one at the airport.

Base on experience I would suggest those trusted International car rental services like the NU car rental Orlando which guarantee lowest rates. You could book with them online or when you reach the airport call them using your mobile and dial 460 407 – 240 – 2700 or thru their courtesy phone in the baggage area and dial 460. After collecting your baggage and they would be happy to give a courtesy shuttle to their location. They will pick you up on A11 for the A side terminal and B34 for the B side terminal.

Age restrictions

As a driver, you are required to at least 18 years of age then present a valid photo driver’s license from the state/country of residence at the time of rental. If your license is not in English then you are required to present an international driver’s permit. Driver’s aged 18-21 are required to pay a $20 fee per day while aged 22-25 is asked $10 fee per day while the rest pays $5.99 per day. All fees are taxable.

Insurance

Insurance is must to all renters. Basic liability insurance is included in the rate except for Florida residents which are required to present proof of liability. The renter is responsible for all damages in the vehicle and will have to sign a Loss and damage waiver unless they can present a proof of valid insurance. If you don’t have one you are required to purchase insurance which cost around $29.99 per day for the economy to the full-sized vehicle and an additional $29.99 per day for vans and SUV types.

Location

You basically bring the vehicle anywhere in the state of Florida. You could visit tourist spots like Universal Studios, Epcot, Seaworld or Magic Kingdom as long as you will not exit the state of Florida. You are responsible for the fuel used in your travel. Most of the car rental companies rent their car with a full tank and requires the renter to return it full tank also. If you can’t do this they will charge you refueling charges which becomes higher than if you fill it up yourselves.
Additional Options
Special Equipment is rented also. For child seat, they have it at around $7.99 per day. GPS system is also available if you are not familiar with the places you are going which cost around $7.99 per day.

Important note for the smokers, although the vehicle might be convertible or a close type one smoking inside the vehicle is strictly prohibited. The Vehicle is inspected for smoke odor and residue which could give you a $50 to $250 cleaning fee if found guilty.
